Hey there, I’m David Gorvy.
I’m a form-agnostic filmmaker, and I combine cinematic styling and simple, direct storytelling to make things that (hopefully) make you feel something.
I won a national Ben & Jerry’s commercial contest as a teenager and graduated with an economics degree from Columbia University.
My greatest accomplishment so far in life is getting a tier-3 tech support job that I was not qualified for at Google and, over the course of seven years, turning that boring tech role into an awesome creative role where I got to do things like film a solar eclipse with astrophysicists from UC Berkeley, meet privately with the Governor General of Australia to discuss VR in education, shoot a NASCAR film at Daytona Speedway, document how trout are sustainably farmed in Calgary, and make college campuses available to tour in VR so underprivileged students can afford to experience them.
I also made a documentary about my favorite fish taco. It was awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick and was included in The Atlantic Selects and Director’s Notes, where it has amassed over 70,000 views.
